Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for December 2015

Merry Christmas

Here is my take on Tim’s Tag.  I used some of the same techniques, tweeked some, and changed others depending on the supplies I had on had.

I cut burlap I had down to tag size then sprayed it with Fired Brick Distress Stain.  I used my  Xyron  to add adhesive to the tag and attached at the burlap.

Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for August 2015

I was inspired by Tim’s layered background technique for this month’s tag.  My first layer was Melange Tissue Wrap.

Then I chose to cut out butterflies the second tag using the decorative strip die Butterfly Frenzy.  I saved the butterfly cutouts  to use as an additional layer.Tag-aug-5Then I used Distress Ink in some the new colors.  They were a little too bright so I added a light coat of white gesso.

Next I stamped and inked the butterfly cutouts.  I colored the bodies brown.  I attached the butterflies just at their bodies.

Last I added chit chat words and the word beautiful

Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for July 2015

In keeping with the red, white and blue them I created my tag for July.  I went a different direction with the tag for more of a challenge.

I started with a layer of tissue paper.

Next, I used stencils and texture paste to create stars and stripes on the tag.  I dried it with a heat tool. Then applied a layer of white gesso.

I added Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire and Fired Brick. I wiped the stars and stripes with a baby wipe. Then I stamped a crackle stamp randomly on the background.  I added roses dusted with glitter, some jute twine and variegated fiber,  a mirrored star, and a heart on a pear pin.JulyTag15.4

As a final touch I created some chit chat type words, glued them down and smudged them with Black Soot Distress Marker.

I am happy to report that my replacement ink refill arrived. I compared the original refill to the replacement ink.

The ink on the left is the original bottle. The ink on right is the replacement bottle. As you can see the ink on the right is much thicker.

Thanks to Ranger customer service for the quick response.

Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for June 2015

This month I chose to turn my tag into an anniversary card for my husband. We celebrated our 26th anniversary on the 17th.

So Happy Anniversary Honey!

Here is the first tag. The Twisted Citron is barely visible.
Here is the tag turned into a card.

I used the birds because I think they are so cute and fun to color.

I started with a DIY ink pad with Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon following Tim’s directions.  I had some difficulty when creating the pad because the Picked Raspberry and Mermaid Lagoon mixed with the Twisted Citron.  I compared my Twisted Citron refill to other refills I had at home.  It seemed to be much thinner than the others. I did a video comparison with 2 refills. I will post this video as soon as my tech support becomes available.

I have contacted Ranger and sent them the video.  They are sending a replacement refill and DIY ink pad.  I am still waiting on them. I will let you know the outcome next month.

Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for May 2015

Here is my look at  Tim’s May tag. I had to look at it for a long time before I could design my own tag.  I used cork for my background. I am not quite fond of found relatives, I wanted my tag to have meaning. So I started with a picture of a wonderful lady who I is dear to my heart.  I printed the picture in black and white just smaller than 2″ x 3″. Then I distressed the edges and added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  Purple happens to be her favorite color, so I added purple roses made with the Tattered Pinecone die. She is wearing a tiara, so I tinted the stones with a purple Distress Marker. Next I added some chit chat words to describe her and some metal charms. I really like how it turned out.  If you are interested in making  a tag of your own, stop by or call Cafe Crop to sign up for the class.

I also made a card using the Tattered Pinecone die. I added sparkle with the Wink of Stella clear shimmer marker.

Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for April 2015

Here they are….my tags for April.

I used stamps I had available to create my tags.  I love the cascade of flowers (a Dylusions stamp). I didn’t have Tim’s word dies, so I used my eClips2 to cut my words.  Love how fine I can cut the script font.

I had forgotten how much fun it to color with the Distress Markers, I will be finding making some time to color.

Interested in making your own version of the tag, call Cafe Crop at 219.661.1624 or stop by to sign up.  Class is Wednesday, April 15 at 7 pm or Thursday, April 16 at 1:30 pm.

Lisa’s Look at Tim’s Tag for March 2015

March2015.3 Although I finished my tag in early March, I am just now posting it here on my new blog.

Before I started on my actual tag, I tried embossing with the archival ink and the embossing powder. To tell the you the truth I wasn’t sure it would work and wanted to test it out first. I found I could stamp three butterflies, add the embossing powder anMarch2015.1d then use the heat tool without a problem. HeMarch2015.2re is the card I made with my first attempt. I will be sending this to someone special.
